We stayed here at the start of June and were very happy we did. The service from all the staff is excellent. Every Morning we enjoyed a buffer breakfast and looked out over the city.

We were also treated to views ot the incredibly beautiful Teatro Nacional de Costa Rica next door.There is an okay gym if you need exercise. There is tour booking office in the lobby and the lady there was incredibly helpful, even when not selling us a tour. The decor is beautiful and our room was well appointed. It was also very clean and comfortable.

This was such a beautiful hotel you can't help but imagine the awesome history of this beautiful, majestic hotel and who all many have stayed their over the years. I had a room overlooking the plaza and just loved my room and view. I would definately stay here again

Estuvimos en San José solamente una tarde, por lo que para poder recorrer un poco el centro necesitábamos un hotel bien ubicado. El Gran Hotel Costa Rica tiene una excelente ubicación, bien en el centro de la ciudad y cerca de muchas atracciones, restaurantes y tiendas. El hotel en si es un hotel antiguo grande y bien arreglado. La habitacion donde nos quedamos era pequeña pero cómoda, tenía lo necesario y para la noche que estuvimos estaba más que bien. El personal es muy atento y el desayuno excelente. Me parece un buen lugar para quedarse en San José.

We stayed here on Sat. Nov 12 and Sun. Nov. 13 before flying back to the U.S. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We stayed on the second floor and faced the plaza. What great view of everything that was going on and watching people enjoy their weekend. I loved the clown who did face painting and was wonderful with the children.

The service at the hotel was great. The breakfast was very goog. We ate in the restaurant and absolutely loved the asparagus soup. They had a wonderful piano player and it was very relaxing listening to him and enjoying dinner.

This hotel is well-located if you wish to walk around and shop and enjoy the flavor of the city. It is righ next to the Gold Museum and an easy walk to the artisan market and farmers market. Would definitely stay here again.
